SHANNON KATHLEEN BURR BIOGRAPHY
Shannon Kathleen Burr, Soprano, is an artist and educator currently residing in Memphis, TN. Known for her strong, naturally resonant voice with a vibrant color and natural depth, Shannon was most recently seen as Anne Truelove in The Rake’s Progress put on in collaboration with Opera Memphis and the University of Memphis, and as The First Lady in Die Zauberflöte with the WTAMU Opera Workshop. After spending a year as Adjunct Instructor of Voice at West Texas A&M, she is now pursuing her DMA in Vocal Performance at the University of Memphis.
“In addition to being a highly competent technician and an emotionally compelling and dynamic performer, Shannon brings a great “joie de vivre” to all her projects. This quality makes collaboration with her both productive and fun! As Director of Choral Activities at Lycoming College and Conductor of the Williamsport Chamber Choir and Orchestra, I have worked with Shannon in many capacities. Naturally possessed of a wide range, a diverse color palette, and a keen ear for language, Shannon adapts well to and can thrive in, many different vocal styles.”
